Hello everyone,

We apologize for the inconvenience due to the long time for maintenance. First of all we would like to clarify that UVD isn’t going anywhere, and that our downtime is merely necessary for implementing the changes for the new avatar system. The changes are quite drastic and require considerable work in the back end, so we have had to eliminate all user activity to the website to avoid issues. As soon as our website is back up you will have the access to your account again. We estimate our maintenance time should last for an additional 14 days.

Further information we can tell you at this point:

* All master codes will NOT be gone. There is no reason for us to remove the master code from designer’s texture list. If you have purchased the master code from a designer, you can still use it as long as you have it as saved outfit on Utherverse. It will considered as a “grandfathered outfit”. IF you try to modify the outfit on the edit avatar page, you will lose the outfit because we don’t have your usage information in the UVD database. Your purchases were not conducted on the UVD system. You might want to ask the designer to gift the outfit to your wardrobe for future convenience.

* Designer removal tool will be gone in a week after the website is back up, but the ban tool will stay. As UV provides better security, there will no longer need to remove outfits from users who have purchased/grabbed it. Please use this one week to provide any resolution needed to correct any personal dispute that may need refunding to users with the removal tool.
.
We are under pressure to implement the changes as soon as possible. Please understand that we have to be careful when releasing news based on the information we received in a short time to avoid promising changes that we might not able to complete. We will continue to answer only the valid concerns we gather from our support channel, and place the important ones into an announcement. We look forward to getting things back online for everyone.

Blessing,

UVD Team

One note of caution here though. If some Designers didn`t give out their Master Code but instead gave out a UVD code that hasn`t gone through the UVD Catalogue I wonder if that too is grandfathered. Because I believe many did this to protect their Master Code. No mention of this has been made so far.

NOTE: My nick and image are from a company. That company allows people to use them both as long as they get permission and a licence. I have that and a certificate to prove it.

So Basically, my eyes, hair, head skin, and torso that I currently use on my avatar can be used on my current UVD outfits but I won't be able to use them on any future outfits once the change goes through? The hair is not a problem as the designer is still in Utherverse, but the eyes and torso skin, and head skin that I currently use worries me because I cannot contact the designer because the designer of those items are no longer in Utherverse. The Designer of these items left Utherverse before UVT became UVD.

Hi Sam, if I understand correctly, you are talking about a situation where designer grabbed their own code from the catalogue (which generate the uniq code) and sell it privately to everyone. If this is the case, the customer will lose the generated code when the new system is up (because base on the UVD record, it is the designer listed as the buyer/grabber, there is nothing about the private clients). The designer should prepare the list of the customers who made the purchase in this way, and then gift them the outfit properly into their wardrobe as soon as the website back up. There is no grandfathering for the generated code that is being shared by multiple people.

But for the users who purchased/grabbed the outfit from the catalogue properly, any transition within our system will be done by our side and they should not encounter any more inconvenience other than the long maintenance time.

That sounds like the case from what I read.

But I'd say it's a pretty good compromise which keeps everyone at their most happiest
in all honesty.

well I am not happy because of this. yes I am happy that they will not be pinked on my current outfits but I would like to continue using them with future outfits which I can't. 3 of those 4 items mentioned, I can no longer use with future outfits, the designer cannot be contacted because they don't exist in UVD or utherverse, and with the lack of funds caused by No sales since the maintenance started, I do not have the rays to replace these items.

My concern is taking away the removal tool, as a lot of people do custom work and are now going to have to use the cat in order to distribute it If you list the item and someone other than the person it is intended for grabs it , without the removal tool how are we to remove it from that person whom the item was not intended for and refund them? Just something to think about since there are a lot of people who ONLY do custom work such as tattoos.

*** Unless we are getting a custom gift tool or a tool to gift items not listed in the cat . That would be awsome! (Yes I know a great big IF, but one can only hope , yeah?)

Thank you for confirming that master codes currently saved to UV profile will not be lost completely. Shame that they will be rendered uneditable. Couple of questions;

1) Is mixing and matching UVD and UC items effectively dead? Also what about adding Standard Closet items? Will these be available in the UVD interface as they are in UC?
2) Will there be a means for designers to sell/gift off catalogue for bespoke one off items or outfits?
a question is a question is a question and nothing else

Thank you for bring up some good point! Currently there are many "orphan" textures listed under UVD account because nobody claim them, possibly because the original designer have left UV. We did not promote them for public use because the fear they will be abused by the code sharer, while there was no-one looking after them. After the secure system in place, we can create a way for users to continue to use these textures. But before that, we have to get the avatar update, new UVD edit avatar page, and update the new system into the catalogue. So many to do. Smile

Can't please everybody...considering how people were "speculating" on the terrible things that were going to happen, it seems like a reasonable way to go about it. People that sold direct were obviously not worried about code sharers..no loss to them. In the future, they have to go through the catalogue. Interesting to see if any changes are made to that system because it is a little cumbersome for one of a kind sales.......

People that closed their stores because they did not want to or afford to cope with the demands for refunds, may be tempted to return. That benefits everybody.

Sign me up as a happy camper...at least at this point.

I assume this will also stop the resellers of old resource folder files in their tracks as well?

Thank you for your answer saki. My eyes were custom made for me, but I cannot remeber the designers full name when she made them. the others do not have a designer tag. Is there any way I can contact you and give you the codes to the textures that I would like to keep and continue to use for when you create a way to continue using these textures?

^^^ Yes, we should offer this feature in the near future. It's already in the to-do-list. Smile

I believe we can offer the mix and match ability with RLC Public textures, however I can't confirm the UC one yet as we should confirm a lot of things with UC first. We don't want to cross any boundaries.

You can let me know the filename of the texture to support mail and then I can help look up who is the designer. I will let you to resolve the dispute directly with them first. I hope it will work out fine for you!
